Rajan Kapoor has wide range of interests and passion in various fields like music, photography, art, environment, nature and sports. He believes, "Unlike skills, talents cannot be acquired, however you can polish them up by acquired skills". However one must have a talent exploit your talents.

He is a Graduate, with honors from the University of Delhi. As a profession, Rajan runs a business catering to lightning industry worldwide. He established the group, Golden Peakock Limited in mid Eighties. The GPL group went on to become the highest exporter of Electrical Accessories and Lighting products from India and has been awarded by Export of India from time to time. The retail arm, "Kapoor Lampshades" is a popular brand name in India. He heads the Group, as the Chairman cum Managing Director of the company.

Despite having a very busy life he always took out time to pursue his various interests and hobbies. He has received several awards and recognition in different fields due to his perseverance and positive attitude. He has also been part of the five-member Jury appointed by Government of India to judge the National Art Awards, 2012. Given below is a brief of the different areas in which he has excelled.

Started performing at school & college events from a very young age and also went onto perform on radio, TV, several stage shows and inter college competitions .He has won many awards in singing. At present his interest is confined to be part of various music groups.

His keen interest in photography began in 1990, when he bought his first SLR camera. He worked closely with Mr. S Paul on Eminent Photographer recognized the world once. His work has been recognized with several national and international awards including the National Award on Literacy, the National Wildlife Photographer Award, the Common Wealth Award and also the International award by Cordon Bleu, France, for best coffee table book on photography.

He represented Delhi at state level and has won many prizes in swimming.

Taking it up soon after school, he went on to win Mr. Delhi University best physique title in 1974-75.

As a sports man, he picked up golf in late nineties and won number of prizes at various club levels. His achievement reached the heights when he represented India in World Corporate after beating number of corporate teams. He was captain of the team GPL, representing India.

He has also received recognition at club level, inter school level, state level in horse riding, skating, cycling, kite flying, painting, carom, wrestling and dancing.
